Sometimes you may be requested to update the firmware of your LTO drive, this article details how to do just that. Whilst performing these tasks via the command line can be daunting, don't fear, we're going to talk you through it step-by-step.


Start by installing ITDT-SE for Mac by following [this article].


Using Terminal, drag the itdt command from Finder in to your Terminal window and hit the right-arrow to send the cursor to the end of the line and type: -f tape0 ucode 


Now drag in the firmware update file you have been sent in to the Terminal window

Your Terminal should look something like this

Hit Return and the firmware update will commence


Do NOT disconnect the drive from the Mac or power off the LTO drive whilst the firmware update is being performed


Once the update has completed, you can quit Terminal and continue using your LTO drive.
